New Card Challenges: Joy

This week, I made a card in response to two card challenges. The Paper Players challenge is to make a card with Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke and River Rock. I had not used Riding Hood Red in a while, but I really do like anything red. Freshly Made Sketches had a layout challenge, where stampers are to make a card with the given layout. Those are fun for me because they give me ideas of how to design my cards differently.

Here is what I used to make the card:

Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set
Always Artichoke Card Stock, 8 1/2" X 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4"
Bella Rose Designer Series Paper, 2" X 3 3/4" (two pieces)
River Rock Card Stock, 4" X 5 1/4"
Very Vanilla Card Stock 2 1/4" X 3 3/4"
Always Artichoke Classic Ink
Ridinghood Red Classic Ink
Red jewels
Sizzix Hero Arts Framelets Stamp & Die cut set
Snowburst Embossing Folder

This Week's Challenge

This week at the Paper Players, the challenge is a recipe. Stampers are to combine the "ingredients" to make a card. I had a hard time choosing which stamp set to use, but decided on Elements of Style because it is so classic. Since it is fall, I decided on fall colors, including Soft Suede, River Rock, Cajun Craze and Well Worn Designer Series Paper. I used champagne gold glitter on the Scallop Oval to outline the Large Oval for sentiment, and the Lace Ribbon Border punch to tie the colors together. For the ribbon, I used vanilla satin ribbon and hemp twine.

Happy Christmas to All Card

Here is a card I made for the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #8. I really love to make Christmas cards, and this week's layout really had me perusing the Christmas stamp sets. I decided to use the Lovely as a Tree and the Wandering Words stamp sets to make the "scene" and the Just Believe set for the sentiment.

This Week's Stamping Challenge

I have really enjoyed the stamping challenges lately because I am trying to get different ideas and it's fun to try to stick to a layout or color scheme. This week's challenge on The Paper Players is a challenge by Nance, it's kind of a ribbon look card. I decided to go with a holiday card using one of my favorite retired stamp sets. I love the Santa! I colored him with the Watercolor Wonder crayons and blender pens and then added iridescent ice embossing powder to the trim of his coat and his beard.

Christmas Inspiration

When I think of Christmas cards, I think of Cherry Cobbler because it is such a rich, beautiful color. It goes well with greens from Garden Green to Wild Wasabi, and Old Olive in between. This week's challenge by The Paper Players is to make a Christmas card using red and green. Bet you can guess which red I used!

Fall Leaves

PPA115-Fall/Thanksgiving-AND Blog Candy!!

I just love the fall colors. Too bad we don't get to see many of them here in San Antonio. This week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge had a picture that brought fall to my mind. I chose to stamp leaves in my favorite fall colors: Cajun Craze and More Mustard. I have to confess that French Foliage is among my favorite stamp sets because it is so versatile.

This Week's Stamping Challenges

This week, I was excited to see this week's challenges. On The Paper Players, Jaydee's Color Challenge #67 uses Bravo Burgundy, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, and Very Vanilla. I used Lovely as a Tree and French Foliage stamp sets, Hemp Twine, and Gold Embossing Powder. I have been admiring people's cards on Freshly Made Sketches, so I decided to submit this card for their Challenge FMS6.

Paper Players Challenge #55

I saw the Paper Players Challenge on their blog, and the colors really interested me. I really like Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake, and kind of needed ideas to use Poppy Parade with different colors. Here is what I came up with using the Fabulous Florets Stamp Set.

July Stamp Club

July Stamp Club is coming next week and I wanted to show a preview of what we will make. We will make a Christmas card so that people can start getting ideas for their holiday card making, and we will make a card that is embossed in two places. Check out the pictures!

Pals Paper Arts Challenge PPA102

This week's PPA Challenge asked stampers to think about how they spend their summer days. I enjoy watching birds during the summer and I love the Elements of Style stamp set, so this is what I came up with.

Creation & Relaxation

Here is a project I did with some friends after work last week. It is a note pad portfolio made with a 5 X 8 legal pad and card stock. It turned out really cute and some people made them as gifts. We used the owl punch and the Seasons of Friendship stamp set to make them.

April Stamp Club: Watermark Bird Card

I decided to use this card as the other April project because I wanted to demonstrate the watermark technique using the Versamark stamp pad. This designer paper is Blueberry Crisp, and it is so beautiful, especially with Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, and Soft Suede card stock. I stamped the message on the Top Note die cut with the Curly Cute stamp set, and used two colors to punch the two step bird for the front. After I punched the scallops, I sponged them with soft suede to kind of antique them.

April Stamp Club: Sweet & Sour Butterfly Card

This is one of my April Stamp Club cards. I used the Sweet & Sour Designer Series Paper, Pumpkin Pie card stock, Rose Red card stock, the Beautiful Wings embosslit, the Decorative Label punch and the Scallop Border punch. The Sweet & Sour paper is very Springy and club members really liked the card.
